I began to build a business, a financial business. Well, that excitement didn’t last. About a year later my clients started to call me and ask the question, ''Barry, where are these great returns you told us we were going to get?''. You see, they were not making money, and some were even losing money. I didn't know what to tell them. It scared me. I was losing sleep. I was so new in the business that I didn't know the answer to their question or what to do. It was awful.
I went back to my mentor and these other financial advisors in the office and I asked the question, ''What do I tell my clients?'' In a nutshell, I received one disappointing answer over and over again from my mentor.
He said, ''Barry, tell your clients they're in it for the long haul.'' Have you heard that before? I thought, ''You’ve got to be kidding me.'' This was painful to hear.
You can imagine how uncomfortable I was going back to these clients, some friends of mine, some family members of mine, and saying to them, ''Hey, I know you're losing money but remember, you're in it for the long haul.'' It went completely against my grain. As I went through that experience I remember losing sleep and being worried about the uncertainty of these investments that I had put my clients into. I was worried about my future and I was worried about their future.
I really didn't know what I was doing. I simply took the advice of my mentor, who took the advice of his mentor and so on, and so on. Ultimately, we were salesmen for the stock market industry. I was selling for Wall Street; mutual funds, IRA’s, and those types of unstable investments. I didn't know what I was doing, and neither did my mentor.
And here’s a little secret…most advisers don’t know what they’re doing either. I didn't understand how a mutual fund truly worked. I didn’t understand the high and hidden fees and neither did my mentor. It was very, very confusing and disturbing in my life. Not just because it affected me, but because it affected my clients and those around me. That uncertainty, that lack of foundation caused me to want to find something better.
So I started on a journey. This journey of discovering something better, and not just better, but different.
I was on a mission. I was on a mission to discover something completely opposite of the stock market.
I was on a mission to find something that was guaranteed and predictable. And I found it. It took me years to discover, and several modifications to create the perfect system. I began to show this system to others. They were blown away. The response and result were hugely positive.
I had created a system that was bullet-proof.
